⚠️UPDATE – ROAD PAVING
9/8/2025 – Updated Road paving schedule with Black Cross Rd, Granit Reef and Ranch Rd all starting on September 25th!
8/8/2025 – Update from City Official, Nathan Domme
The City has selected Rummel Construction as the contractor for this project serving as the project manager. Signage will be posted in the area, and mailers will be sent to provide updates to affected residents. Project-specific documents may be requested through the City’s public records request process. A Notice to Proceed has been issued, with construction scheduled to begin on August 11, 2025, and project completion anticipated by January 10, 2026. All work will take place within the public right-of-way and will not impact private property. Attached is the Schedule, Plans and Drawings for the project.
While no public meeting is scheduled, project updates will be shared via signage, mailers, and a dedicated project webpage, which can be accessed through the City’s website by searching the keyword “PM10.”
7/15/2025 -Update from City Official
“At this time, the contract has been approved by council, and we are doing the final coordination of activities with the contractor as required to establish an NTP date with the contract. We have not yet received a schedule of the contractor’s proposed operations for our review and subsequent approval. Once we have, we will reach out to you [PPR POA President] to provide an overview of the anticipated operations and respond to any remaining questions you may have.”
🌵 EAST OF PIMA DEVELOPMENT
9/5/2025: We were glad to have Solange Whitehead join us at our monthly coffee. Several homeowner questions were addressed regarding the land east of Pima and other attributes. Please find the shared documents regarding the development here: Proposed Land Zoning and Preserve Acquisitions. An extremely abbreviated and high level summary:
- The City of Scottsdale’s 5-year CIP includes widening Pima to four lanes between Dynamite and Las Piedras, with further expansion possible as development moves east.
- The land is not yet for sale, but Land Developer Lyle Anderson has shown interest in purchasing it. He developed the communities of Desert Mountain and Desert Highlands.
- If the developer would want to rezone what was established back in 2016, this could give the City leverage for benefits such as returning a resort-zoned parcel to preserve land, creating more open space, or adding some retail.
- Any development will take time even once it is purchased – rezoning and building may happen gradually over many years into decades.
- The parcel at Pima & Dynamite is no longer part of the planned development as shown on the map and will stay as open space.
If you are on the Starbucks coffee reminder list, your email has also been added to Solange’s distribution list for updates and briefings about the land and surrounding area. If you are not on the Starbucks list and would like to be added to either list, please fill out the contact form.
Please note: this is just a summary of my, Heather Johnson’s, personal understanding and not an official statement by the POA or City Officials.
